You Are Here

You Are Here was a chance to pursue interface design that went beyond the currently available technology. The premise of the application is that anyone can locate anything, whether that be a business, restaurant, or even themselves. You Are Here was meant to provide any user with virtually every map in their pocket.

This particular application employs GPS technology as well as Google Street View which at the time had not been implemented into software for the iPhone. Because anyone could now see their surroundings in full panorama from the street, it made it possible to integrate this view into different GPS modes including the driving instructions mode. Instead of looking at a map from above, this application makes it possible for users to see the street view of an intersection before they even arrive there. This app also expounds on the data gathered by GPS by giving you up-to-date trip statistics including distance traveled and arrival estimates.
